Excited about the purchase and downtown's revival, but asked the city to keep its small business facade grant program funded for other downtown businesses.

A downtown restaurant owner praised the presentation, said downtown needs more food-hospitality-entertainment uses, and predicted the project will spark nightlife and further private investment.

Supported the idea but raised concerns about traffic and location, and suggested considering a wine bar showcasing San Joaquin area products.

Asked whether the murals on the building wall will be preserved; staff and council said the city ownership actually protects the murals and public art will remain a downtown priority.
